Feeling lost without her father, disconnected from her heritage and shunned by her peers, she creates a hero of her in the animated character of Mai (played by Birgit), a celebrated animee action character from TV, comic books and the web. Mai possesses a strength that our young heroine has yet to understand she has within her. When her imaginary and real worlds collide, she begins to learn truths that she is unprepared for and discovers powers beyond her expectation.

Based on a real life case of infanticide, a detective is pulled into the cloistered world of an Indian reservation to investigate the homicide of a young mother’s infant. The mother’s only alibi is that she didn’t know she was pregnant but what the detective and the forensic psychologist discover reverberates well outside the boundaries of the reservation and must ultimately go before a jury.
